Volunteering with people who have psychosocial disabilities is a unique experience that not only allows you to help others but also enables you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you. This activity fosters empathy, develops patience, and highlights the significant impact that simple, sincere communication can have.
Working with this group of people requires sensitivity, but it also becomes an invaluable source of personal growth. Volunteers often notice that this experience changes their outlook on life. It teaches them to appreciate small things, strengthens emotional intelligence, and improves their ability to navigate challenging situations. It is not just about helping others – it is also about self-discovery and personal development.
We are delighted to announce that our project, “An Active and Solidary Step: In the Context of Psychosocial Disability,” approved by the Open Lithuania Foundation and funded by the European Commission, is successfully promoting volunteering in Klaipėda. Seven volunteers have successfully completed an 8-day training program, during which they acquired valuable knowledge and practical skills for working with individuals with psychosocial disabilities. While the completion of the training marks an important milestone, there is always room for improvement – volunteers will continue to deepen their knowledge and enhance their competencies through practice.
This project is not only a tool to support people with disabilities but also a valuable resource for the community, helping to reduce social exclusion and strengthen mutual solidarity.
We invite you to join our initiative – become part of the change, help others, grow yourself, and together let us build a stronger and more united Klaipėda community!
